MVA at Garrett Highway
At approximately 1630 hrs a call was reported for a motor vehicle accident with injuries at Garrett Highway and Maryland Highway.  Engine/Rescue 43 responded with a crew of six. Once on scene, Chief 40(Feather) requested an additional ambulance from Southern Garrett Rescue due to the number of patients. All were transported to Garrett Memorial Hospital with priority two and three type injuries.

Food on the Stove
At approximately 1915 hrs the station was alerted for an alarm activation at 16 East Oak Street, in Oakland.  The crew of six arrived with nothing showing.  Further investigation found burnt food on the stove with moderate smoke throughout the structure.  The crew ventilated the structure and restored the alarm system.  Another crew remained at the station running a fund raising event during the call.

Oakland Volunteers Celebrate 112 Years
 
The 112th Annual Banquet was held Friday evening at the Pine Lodge Steak House at Deep Creek Lake. Approximately 85 people were in attendance including retired members and guest, widows of deceased members, and special guest. Everyone was able to enjoy a social hour and wonderful meal followed by and awards ceremony . A special thanks to Station 30 (Deep Creek) who provided a crew at Station 40 for the evening.

Slow Week for Oakland Volunteers
Oakland Volunteers responded Thursday around 4:30 p.m. to a brush on the side of the road on 219 north just past Wal-Mart. Engine Rescue 43 arrived on scene to find approximately 1 acre of land burnt. It took personnel about 45 minutes to put the fire out.
Saturday evening at approximately 6:00 p.m. Engine Rescue 43 and Southern Garrett Ambulance responded to Garrett Road for a motor vehicle accident. Units arrived on scene to find a vehicle into a tree. Units returned to service in about an hour. 4-1-06
