Fourth of July a Success
Several members took time from their holiday events to attend the annual July fourth parade in Accident. The Engine Rescue and the Truck were were led through the parade by the O.V.F.D honor guard unit. All the hard work payed off when the awards were handed out. Engine Rescue 43 recieved best appearing pumper, 1500 gal. and above. Truck 44 recieved best appearing Squad/Rescue. The judges then announced Oakland as the best appearing fire department. The honor guard came away with a check for $100 for the best appearing marching unit.

Crews Assist Co. 160 During Events
Crews assist our neighbors to the west, Co. 160 (Terra Alta) thru out the week of June 24th thru June 30th during their annual carnival. Members provided fire crews during their demoliton derbys and fireworks shows. Thursday evening the crew attended the annual parade. They were able to capture two trophys. Best appearing engine, and best appearing fire department (2 or more units).
 
Overturned Truck with Trailer on Route 219

Around 3:30p.m. Engine Rescue 43 and Truck 44 responded to a MVC on 219 in the area of Kings Run Road. Units arrived on scene to find a rolled over Ford Bronco that was pulling a trailer. The driver was removed from the vehicle and transported to Garrett Memorial Hospital by Southern Garrett Ambulance. The passenger was flown by Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 5 to Ruby Memorial Hospital. Route 219 was shut down by State Highway and Garrett County Roads. A Deer Park unit responded in order to assist 40 units.
