Passing of Past Chief Stanley Savage
The officers and members are saddened to learn of the passing of Stanley Savage, Past Chief on Sunday November 26, 2006. Chief Savage joined the department in OCtober 1965 and served until November 1982 when he retired from the department. Stanley was elected to the position of Fire Chief from 1971 until 1975. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this time of sorrow.

Tanker & Truck Run Early Morning Assist To Aurora
Garrett Central Recieved the call at 0417 hrs. from Preston County 911 requesting tanker 46 to assist Co. 200 (Aurora) on a structure fire with one possibly entrapped. As the crew was leaving the station, Deputy Chief 200 (Green) requested Truck 44 as the first due special service unit. once on the scene, the additional members on the Tanker assisted with the interior attack while the Tanker shuttled water. Once the Truck arrived they were assigned to venting the roof. Both crews returned back in quarters by 0730 hrs.

Three Assists and One Room & Contents
Monday started off at 0815 with an assist to Co. 160 (Terra Alta) on a MVA accident with entrapment in the Terra Alta area. While responding, the Engine/Rescue was placed in service. During the rest of the day, crews responded two more times to assist the ambulance Co. 9 (SGRS) with lifting. Then at 1245 hrs. dispatch recieved the call for a structure fire at 115 Glotfelty Drive. This sent Engine/Rescue 43 with seven, and Tanker 46 with three to the scene. Crews arrived to find moderate smoke showing. Once inside the crew located a bedroom off which was quickly brought under control. No injuries were reported and crews remianed on the scene for approx. one hour.

Mutual Aid to Deep Creek On Structure Fire
At approximatly 0230 hrs. Monday morninng Garrett Central received the call at 374 Marsh Hill Road for a house fire. This brought Truck 44 as the first due truck on the call with five on board. With Engine 31 (Deep Creek) arriving with heavy smoke smoke showing, Tanker 46 was added to the assignment. As units were moments away, Chief 30 advised the fire was under control and placed Tanker 46 in service and requested the Truck to transfer to Station 30. The crew remained at Station 30 for approximately 1 1/2 hrs. before returning.

Mutual Aid to Bayard On Power Plant Fire

At approximately 0430 hrs. Sunday morning Grant County Communications received a cal for a fire and possible explosion at the North Branch Power Plant in Bayard, WV. Moments later Garrett Central was notified to send units from Garrett County to include Truck 44. Captain 120 (Neal) arrived on the scene and reported fire showing on the roof of the 12 story complex and requested several tankers and additional trucks from Mineral and Alleghany Counties. This added Tanker 46 to the assignment. Once on the scene, crews split and assisted with the water supply fire suppression. Crews remained on the scene until aprroximately 0900 hrs. before being released.

Food On The Stove At Meadow Woods Appartment
Crews were alerted Sunday afternoon for an apartment fire at 607 N Street, Mt. Lake Park. Engine/Rescue 43 and Truck 44 responded with seven and arrived to find no fire but moderate smoke through out the second floor of the complex from food on the stove. The crews set up ventilation fans and had the building cleared approximately 20 minutes.
